I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

Someone We Knew

Betty was a southern belle
Someone we all knew quite well.
But she has departed now,
Someone said she went to hell.

Joyful Man

Marvin Morris Mallengaster

Lived life to the fullest.

He used to live in Turkey. He

Was an Istanbullist.

But when he came back to the States,

His lifestyle was curtailed

For bringing something back with him

That caused him to be jailed.

He lived beyond the hard times to

Become a joyful man

And died while digging shellfish

Happy as a clam.

EPITAPHS—(Not to be confused with epigraphs which are quotations on buildings or at the beginning of literary works.) Epitaphs are known today as tombstone poems. They were respected by the early Greeks and Romans and popular in the middle ages. Sometimes humorous, they generally honor a deceased person.
